Overland freshmen are freaking out over finals.
Though finals week starts on December 16th, Overland teachers have started to hand out study guides and warn students about how finals will affect our grades.
Since freshmen have never taken finals before, it’s an especially stressful time for them. In an interview with Diamond Himebaugh-Rackley, an Overland freshman, about finals, she said, “I’m so stressed. Finals should be more spaced out so that we don’t have to worry about everything at the same time. We should be able to legally opt out of finals without our grades being affected.”
In a separate interview with Martin Fletes Melendrez, who is also an Overland freshman, he said, “From what I’ve heard from upperclassmen, finals don’t really affect our grades. I feel like they aren’t something that we should worry about. But I can understand why people are worried about it because they’ve never had to take finals before.”
Though some freshmen aren’t worried about finals, others are. It’s a new school year with a new administration, so nobody – not even the upperclassmen, know exactly what’s going to happen.
Study hard and make sure to take small breaks for self-care, Blazers!
